- If you have not done any OT CET modules (including paper entries) with us before, please contact OT CET on 020 7878 2412 or email Rachel Joyce. After verification your details will be added into our system and you should be able to continue.
- If you are a returning user and have accessed the website on previous occasions, please check the following:
1. Did you set the pull down menu box to 01-, or 02- (for GOC registered optometrist), D- (for GOC registered dispensing optician) and Irish- (for Irish Opticians Board). Do not re-enter 01-, 02-, D-, Irish- in the box requesting your number.
2.Passwords are case sensitive - please make sure your CAPS LOCK button is not selected.
3. Has your surname changed e.g. through marriage? If you can still log in with your maiden name, give us a call and we will change your surname for you. N.B Even if you have informed your professional body of a name change, they do not pass your information to third parties such as OT CET, under the rules of the Data Protection Act. The OT CET address does not have to be the same address to which your copy of the OT magazine goes. For magazine address changes, please email nealburrow@aop.org.uk
4. Do you have a double surname like 'Mr P. Harvey Jones'? In this instance, try again and log in with surname - 'Jones' instead of Harvey Jones.
The first time you use OT CET, you will need to assign a password to your account. This is done by leaving the password box blank, which take you to a set-up page. By choosing a 'strong password' (usually containing letters and digits eg. Pr43N1), your personal information will be kept private. Some examples of common weak passwords are Administrator, 1,2,3,4, and Computer etc. Please note passwords are case sensitive.
A password reminder (eg. my dog's name) can at a later stage be e-mailed to the e-mail address entered in at the initial set up stage. This can be useful to prompt your memory in case of a forgotten password.
If you forget your password, we will need to run through some extra security checks. We can then make a new temporary password for you which can be changed the next time you log in using the 'amend details' link. Please call 020 7878 2412. Please note the OT staff cannot access or e-mail your password.
Where do I find the OT CET articles and exam questions?
The articles and exam questions can be found in our printed
journals or they can be downloaded if you have
Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your machine. This
is done by clicking the article
title
on the
'List of exams' page. This is especially useful for
overseas participants, where postal delays can be a
problem.
What is the 'Purchase credit' option for?
Our 'Pay-As-You-Learn' articles
will require credit (non refundable) to be purchased
in order to take part. Any credit purchased is for
the series advertised only and cannot be used in any
future series. Our 12 other monthly CET articles not
in this series will still remain free of charge to
users.
Purchase
credit online using a PayPal account, or by calling
OT on 020 7878 2412 with debit card details or
by using the coupons printed
in the magazine.
What happens after I submit my results?
10 days after the printed module closing
date (NOT SUBMISSION DATE), we upload points using
your GOC number to www.cetoptics.com (the
Vantage website) which manages the CET system for the
General Optical Council. These points will go into your
'pending points area' and it is your responsibility to
confirm the points and move them to your 'final points
record' on their
website. You should still keep a record of
all your CET points.
Why do my results get uploaded to www.otcetoptics.com 10 days after the closing date
of the module?
If you have been awarded CET points
on www.otcet.co.uk, after the module closing date
we check against all the paper entries we have received
to verify that your entry has not been submitted more
than
once.
Your
first
submission
is the one that counts. Posting a dupliacte submission
only causes a delay. Duplicate entries are destroyed.
We then log into the www.cetoptics.com website and batch
upload all the GOC numbers and surname for those who
have gained points. These numbers are cross-referenced
with the GOC register. The process cannot be done until
all entries have been marked.
TIP: Use the 'Grade Book' feature on our website to show previous results you have gained from OT (Optometry Today/Optics Today) CET articles and print out any information you may not have noted. It is also advised to keep hard copy print-outs of any emails sent from www.otcet.co.uk in case your computer experiences problems.
The OT office can be contacted on 020 7878 2412.
If you continue to have problems with using www.otcet.co.uk, you can submit your entry using the form in the journal - however please allow approximately 4 weeks after the module closing date to receive your printed results.
